Content Hub v4.2.1 - First impressions

So I've been testing the new version of the Content Hub for several hours now. Based on my testing I would like to share my experiences with you. The biggest change that you will see immediately after logging in, is the UI update. My feeling about this is a bit mixed. I very much love the new components, they are looking very sharp and neet. I'm my opinion an improvement compared to the previous version. Although I'm not a fan of the new colour scheme yet, perhaps I need to see it longer to get accustomed to it.

Another thing you might notice, they have overhauled the multiple page components. The new components respond a lot faster than their previous version. Especially, the new upload component looks really slick. The upload process also goes a lot faster in the new version. Also, the ability to add more files in the current upload window is an improvement.

Content Hub v4.1 vs v4.2 - Upload files

Next to the ability to add more files, Sitecore has also made it possible to retry an upload when an upload fails. You can retry the asset individually or by Retry button at the bottom of the component.

The only thing that could be improved, is the sharpness of the images. They look a bit fuzzy to me. When the uploading is done, the popup now automatically disappears, It saves us some clicking.

Although pages still look the same, when you take a closer look, you will find the differences. When taking a closer look at the context menu, you can see that the new version is more compact. The items are closer together, thus making it faster so click the option you need. What I've also noticed is that the dragging selection has not been implemented in the new version. Not sure why that is, but I did love the functionality in the previous version. I hope that they will reinstate it in a new version.

Comparision Content Hub 4.1 vs 4.2

To wrap up, the new version feels colour-wise a bit strange to me, but I think I will adapt to it in a couple of weeks. The rewritten components feel a lot faster and look a lot sharper. All in all, I'm positive about the new version, although there are some caveats to fix. But I'm sure Sitecore will fix those in a later release. Until next time!
